Edmonton tree service $1M cheaper if city did it
'We did not receive value for money': auditor.
EDMONTON - The city could have saved more than $1 million by using its own staff to replace drought-ravaged trees rather than hiring a private company, according to an auditor's report.
It cost $1,136 for an outside contractor to supply and plant a tree last year, while Edmonton parks branch workers did the same job for $743, city auditor David Wiun found....
