Radio Labour launches on-line February 1 with international coverage
Separate podcasting site for labour groups, issues, encouraging north-south dialogue.
Starting February 1, there will be an active on-line radio voice for international labour voices. Led by Marc Bélanger, formerly with the Workers' Activities Programme of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and previously a communications and computer specialist with CUPE, the team consists of labour educators, negotiators, research representatives, union members and others connected to the labour movement.
The news service - Solidarity News - is focussed on building North-South dialogue by audiocasting reports from and about developing countries. As part of its mandate to promote communication between unionists globally, scripts of all the reports are supplied so English-language learners can read the words in the reports as they listen to them. A plan for the future is to provide EAL lessons based on each weeks audiocast.
They are encouraging anyone who is associated with a labour movement to report for the service, whether regularly or for one-time events.
