Obama missed three significant opportunities to green American economy - Klein
Other countries were poised to follow American lead.
Author Naomi Klein argues in a blog that President Obama has squandered opportunities to significantly green the US economy. The failure, she says, of Copenhagen was that the US did not step up to the plate with significant proposals to reduce emissions. The European Union, Japan, China and India all indicated they would follow the lead of the US if it demanded major reductions. Instead, Obama presented "embarrassingly low targets".
The noted author of "No Logo" details the three significant opportunities she feels were "blown" in the President's first year, namely to demand a green agenda with the stimulus package as well as the auto and bank bailouts.
