Controversial safety management systems for air safety inadequate: Auditor General

Federal inspectors inundated with paperwork, don't do hands-on inspections.

Are Canada’s major airlines falling short on safety?

That's a serious allegation. Yet that's what Capt. Daniel Slunder, chairman of the Canadian Federal Pilots Association, is essentially saying.

"We no longer are confident the major carriers are compliant with safety regulations," Capt. Slunder said in a statement released last week prior to the CFPA’s appearance before the parliamentary transport committee.
