BC education threatened by privatization lobby

Provincial Liberals 'pretending you can get a quality product by nickel-and-diming the system'.

Hill: Quality ed not delivered by systematic Liberal under-funding despite best efforts of educatorsTERRACE, BC, October 11, 2011: Bruce Hill writes in the Letters section of the Terrace Standard that the BC Liberals have made their policies on privatizing education clear. He takes issue with a stagnant direction that was deemed unconstitutional by the BC Supreme Court, and with attacks on teachers.

"The current message in the popular press in regard to the impasse over a new contract for teachers seems to be that either the education system is a complete failure that needs to be privatized, or it is so essential that the current job action is destroying the futures of every child in BC. Both messages, although contradictory, are coming from the same sources in the provincial government and are intended to intimidate either teachers, parents, or bothÂ…"
