Ontario Tories and Liberals have deep ties to for-profit health care industry
Ontario Health Coalition accuses insiders of influencing health care policy in favour of privatization.
October 2, 2011: Pauline Tam of the Ottawa Citizen writes of the growing fears of the Ontario Health Coalition (OHC) that insiders are influencing Conservative and Liberal politicians to increase privatization of the public health care system. To support its claims, the OHC names several individuals linked to Hudak or McGuinty and private health care.
"Around Liberal Premier Dalton Mc-Guinty's cabinet table and Conservative leader Tim Hudak's inner circle is an influential cadre of advisers and patrons with close ties to forprofit health-care providers.
The Ontario Health Coalition, a pro-medicare group, argues these insiders are eroding the province's public health-care system by laying the groundwork for profit-driven companies to play a bigger role.
If left unchecked, the coalition warns, the growing trend toward private health-care delivery threatens the accessibility and affordability of publicly funded health services..."
