User fees for enriched classes new way privatization creeping into education system

Public Education Week raises awareness about illicit school practices.

MONTREAL , QC, October 2, 2011: The Montreal Gazette reports that public education groups and unions support Public Education Week, which ends Friday. They object to user fees for students taking particular courses and uphold public education as a representative of democracy.

"Teachers' unions and public education groups are praising Public Education Week, which takes place this week, as a way to highlight the value of public schools and warn about the dangers of creeping privatization of the public school systemÂ…"
